Run-Chicken Automatic Door

Any chicken owner who has not installed an automatic coop door knows this feeling: you oversleep in the morning, you wake up late and the first thought is "I need to let the chickens out!" Or you're on the way home in the evening, it's already dark and you're wondering if your chickens are safe and secure. Well, there's a solution!

When we first got our chickens and chicken coop, we never installed an automatic door. Every morning and evening we made sure to let the chickens out and lock them up at the end of the day, regardless of the weather.

Then we discovered the Run-Chicken automatic door. These doors are low maintenance, ultra durable, and super reliable. In the last two and a half years we've installed four of these doors on multiple coops and pens. Our neighbor, also a chicken owner, has installed two Run-Chicken doors as well.

Here's why we love this product and promote it to anyone with backyard chickens:

Easy installation-The instructions provided are clear, the mounting process is simple. We were able install the new door within minutes because we already had a frame to fit the previous Run-Chicken automatic door.

After mounting the door you choose where to secure the small solar panel. It doesn't have to face the sun. In fact, it's recommended not to be in direct sunlight because ambient light is enough. We used a zip-tie to secure the excess wire and mounted the solar panel above and to the side of the door.

Solar-powered convenience-The solar feature of this automatic door is a significant upgrade. In the equally great non-solar version, two AA batteries powered the Run-Chicken automatic door for over a year! Now we have the piece of mind in knowing the solar power is a fail safe system.

Customizable settings-I appreciate the various customizable settings that can be programmed in the Run-Chicken app and sent to the door. You can set the open and close time based on personal preference, or let it work automatically based on sunrise and sunset. There's even an optional time delay setting for added security.

The sensitivity of the light sensor ensures that the door responds accurately to changing light conditions.

Durability-It feels sturdy and well-built, clearly capable of withstanding extreme weather conditions. So far, it has held up well against rain and wind. Our previous Run-Chicken doors worked flawlessly even in the winter months through snow and freeing temperatures. I love knowing that it will still function to let our chickens in and out when we don't want to go out on early on cold winter mornings and in the heavy snow.
